Lucasfilm has been criticized in the past for its lack of diversity amongst its directors. In addition to confirming a Knights of the Old Republic movie, Kennedy also confirmed Lucasfilm is looking for female directors to helm entries in the franchise once its future is planned out. Together they will work to create the next saga in the Star Wars franchise. The duo will work closely with Rian Johnson who is also developing a trilogy of his own. Details on future Star Wars films remain under wraps, however, Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and DB Weiss are set to develop a new trilogy.
